This is the 3rd home we’ve built in SE Michigan and by far was the best experience we’ve had working with a builder. Steve Crane, his wife Judy and foreman Jimmy have been a joy to work with. They completely understand that building a new home is all about the new owners. They went out of their way to go the extra mile to ensure this was a wonderful experience. They are very accommodating to special requests, changes, time constraints, etc., all to ensure your needs are met and expectations are exceeded. When we moved back to Michigan from South Carolina, everyone told us that we were crazy to build a house; especially in this market where there are so many homes to choose from. They said the hassles would be overwhelming. Horror stories were the norm.
The one friend who encouraged us to build had recently had a major reconstruction (done by Crane Construction). He could not say enough good things about working with Steve and his wife, Judy.
We recently moved into our house, on time and within budget. The experience was fantastic. Steve and his crew were always available to answer questions and make suggestions. They were quick to notify us of any potential issues or delays. Steve’s sub-contractors and suppliers were all courteous and professional. More tellingly, they all spoke very highly of Steve and Judy.
We would contract with Crane Construction build another home for us and encourage you to do the same. We’d be glad to talk to anyone considering a new house.

Steve Crane is an excellent builder to work with. He is a man of his word. He does the work he says at the beginning he will do. He adheres to the work agreed to up front by the home owner and Steve Crane. He carries out the work in a timely manner.
Steve provided us with a schedule and by what date we needed to have our selections made for such things as plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, kitchen cabinets, brick, roofing etc. He suggested places for us to go to pick out our items including flooring, brick, shingles etc. We found all of his suggested places to be knowledgeable and good to work with. They would make recommendations to us.
During the planning stage Steve made a number of good suggestions to us about things we had not thought of. There were no hidden costs presented to us. The house was completed on budget and on time. Steve told us at the beginning of the project that after the house was completed we would be good friends. He was right.
If we ever have another house built we will certainly ask Steve Crane to build it.
